Social Distance Tracing Wearing Gadget By IIM Kozhikode

A start-up at the Indian Institute of Management in Kozhikode (IIMK) has anxiously come up with a singular user-friendly wearable device that sounds an alarm to assist enforce physical distance rules.

Known as Valley Band, the wearable device was created by Qualcomm India, a start-up-minded and funded start-up surpass IIMK Business Incubator and Entrepreneur Development Center IIMK Live.

The band helps enforce physical distance rules and supports location and speak to tracing. It vibrates moment by moment, plays sound and simultaneously flashes LEDs which inform the paradigm that another band is 3-feet (1-meters) away, reminding them of the necessity to keep up physical distance.

The wrist-wearing device can track anonymous interactions with other devices and thus not only help maintain a secure workplace but also help employees track movements in real-time.

Coral 5 co-founders Kiranmoyee Mallepaddi and Srinivasan Arumugam said the band was at odds with mobile apps within the market because not all employees had access to mobile phones within the workplace, affecting the effectiveness of app-based solutions.

"The device provides information on which bands/employees have violated the set standards, as this information can help find contacts if COVID-19 is in a very positive state. Malepaddi said.

Debashis Chatterjee, director of IIMK, said the Valley band is an example of emerging women not only as business leaders and founders but also as innovators if appropriate opportunities and support got by the organization and society.

“Real entrepreneurs will adapt to the rapidly changing market environment. Qual5, an initiative founded by women, have turned their skills in warehouse tracking into a quick, marketable solution within the kind of Valley Bands, ”said Kyu Purani, executive, IIMK Live.
