Jio, Airtel, Cipla and many more are on the hit list of Chinese hackers for teaching India everything
The border issue is cool at the moment. But the Dark Web and hacker forums are full of excitement. Chinese hackers are now targeting several Indian companies. Either way, the Chinese Hackers Forum wants to teach India everything by hacking the country's reputable organizations. China's two main hacking groups, Gothic Panda and Stone Panda, have been hit by a number of well-known Indian companies.
According to cybersecurity firm CYFirma Research, well-known companies such as Geo, Airtel and Sipler are among the companies being targeted by Chinese hackers in India. The cybersecurity agency further said that hackers were not only targeting commercial or government agencies. This list also includes media
Cyberpharma, a cybersecurity company, has published this list in three steps. Commercial agencies, media organizations, and government websites. Commercial companies include Geo, MRF Tires, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Airtel, Cipla, Intex Technologies, Micromax, BSNL, Apollo Tires and L&T. CYForma further states that the main purpose of attacking commercial companies is to tarnish the reputation of those companies. As well as leaking confidential business information and leaking as much information as possible on any sensitive subject.
Government offices identified by Chinese hackers include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Information Technology and Broadcasting. And the game of 'name and shame' is at the root of the cyber attack on this government office. This means that the main purpose of hackers is to steal information from the websites of these government offices. Meanwhile, the list of Chinese hackers includes Times of India, Republic TV, NDTV, Hindustan Times, X-TV, Aaj Tak, Dainik Jagran and other top media outlets in the country. In this case too, Chinese hackers are trying to extract confidential information from those media outlets.
But what is the identity of these hackers? And where do they fly from and sit across? The Gothic Panda Chinese hacker group is known by a few more names like APT3, UPS, and TG-011. Earlier, they were directly controlled by the Chinese Ministry of State Defense. The Gothic panda has made several famous campaigns before. For example, Operation Clandestine Fox, Double Tape and Clandestine Wolf. Earlier, Gothic pandas attacked several countries' defense departments, telecommunications, communications and advanced technology infrastructure. The cybercriminal group has previously raided government offices in Hong Kong, the United States, and several other countries.
The hacking group Stone Panda on the other hand is characterized by a few more names. For example, APT 10, Red Apollo, CVNX, Hogfish and the most popular names are Menupus. This very popular hacking group has been active in China since 2009. Palo Alto, the creator of the hacking group, was arrested in 2011. And since then their target has been Japanese academics and organizations that primarily deal with malware with a FireAye investigation a few years ago revealing that Stone Panda was working on Remote Access Trojan (RAT). Which means these hackers can control any device in the world.
